2013 Color of the Year – Emerald
Since 1999, Pantone Inc., a well-known worldwide authority on color, designates a color of the year for design professionals. The color of the year named for 2013 was Emerald Green (Pantone color 17-5641). This beautiful shade conjures images of the countryside of Ireland, the famous city in Oz, and of course, the stunning and rare gemstone that bears its name.
Green, a color so dominant in nature, soothes the soul, but Emerald Green bursts forth with new energy! One only needs to think of the rejuvenation of nature in spring to feel the excitement of this color for 2013. The daring among us will choose to wash the walls of a bedroom, living room or dining room with this energizing shade. Complimentary colors include vibrant shades of pink and basic neutrals. Fabrics with a blue and white pattern create a spectacular combination!
If walls or furniture prove too overpowering for one’s taste, custom pillows created by our own designer, Teddy Karl with fabrics by Brunschwig & Fils, Scalamandre, Schumacher, or Highland Court may add the punch a room needs to be refreshed. An amazing grass cloth by Philip Jefferies or Schumacher would provide an elegant backdrop to an entrance hallway or dining room. Although Emerald Green is the color of the year, other shades of green, such as Kelly, Spring, Hunter, or Forest may be more suited to one’s personal color palette.
Now that the color trends have been established, the designers will start to implement this fabulous color into their collections. We anxiously await the arrival of new fabrics and wall coverings as the year progresses. Our staff invites you in today to discover how your home can be part of the Emerald Green trend for 2013.
